Steven Zhang
Mr. Steven Zhang ’17 is a musician and music educator based in Vancouver, BC. During his time at St. George’s School, he developed a deep connection with music and was awarded the Rigg Scholarship, the N.R.L. Toy Award for Best Wind Player, and won the Concerto Competition in his Senior year.

Steven went on to graduate from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and began his teaching career in Vancouver. He currently teaches piano and saxophone in both Vancouver and Richmond. Steven’s students have achieved top scores at local festivals and on their RCM exams.

Outside of teaching, Steven serves as the President of the Vancouver Youth Music Foundation, a local non-profit organization that empowers tomorrow’s musicians through initiatives such as the Vancouver Youth Wind Symphony and the Vancouver Youth Music Competition. Having experienced firsthand the benefits of a well-supported Music Education Program, Steven endeavours to provide Vancouver’s youth with access to music education, regardless of their background or financial means.

To give back to the St. George’s Music Education Program, Steven is currently contributing to the Music Endowment Program to support young musicians in participating in the European Tour. These programs help students create lasting memories and take part in formative educational experiences.
