A Dynamic Foundation For Lifelong Learning
The Junior School is a joyful and energetic learning community where students are encouraged to follow their curiosity. It’s a place where boys explore, discover, create, collaborate, and have fun growing their love for learning.
From Kindergarten to Grade 7, students build a strong academic foundation while focusing on personal growth and social emotional learning. Soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, and creativity are embedded in all we do, creating kind and resilient young learners with a strong sense of character.
Our dedicated Junior School teachers get to know each student, tailoring learning to his strengths and interests. Because we know that a boy will succeed when his teacher and parents are partners in his learning, there are many opportunities for parent participation and conversation throughout the year.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten at St. George’s is a welcoming and engaging environment where students are placed at the centre of their learning. Through an inquiry-based, experiential approach, students explore their natural curiosity, ask questions, and make meaningful connections to the world around them. Learning is guided by student voice and interest, while thoughtfully building foundational skills and fostering a lifelong love of learning.

Primary: Grade 1–3
Students in the Primary years are naturally curious and eager to engage with the world around them. Our program channels this energy through hands-on, inquiry-driven learning that encourages exploration, collaboration, and purposeful discovery. Foundational skills in literacy and numeracy are developed through a cohesive, shared-language approach across Grades 1–3, supporting students as they grow into confident readers, writers, and thinkers.
As they move through these years, students begin to understand themselves as learners, building independence, developing strategies, and learning to work thoughtfully with others. Learning extends beyond the classroom into a range of dynamic environments, from collaborative learning commons to outdoor spaces that invite movement and exploration. Central to this experience are the strong, supportive relationships students build with their teachers, creating a sense of belonging that underpins both their engagement and growth.
Intermediate: Grade 4–7
In the Intermediate years, students begin to take greater ownership of their learning as they build the independence and confidence needed to navigate more complex ideas and responsibilities. Inquiry continues to play an important role, with students exploring meaningful questions and applying their learning in purposeful ways, but with increased expectations around organization, time management, and follow-through. As they move through Grades 4–7, there is a clear focus on developing executive functioning skills that support both academic success and life beyond the classroom.
Learning is increasingly connected to real-world contexts, encouraging students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and take initiative. This growth is further supported through a wide range of co-curricular opportunities, where students can pursue their interests, develop new skills, and contribute to the broader school community in meaningful ways.
