READY AND RELEVANT

OUR STRATEGIC PLAN
2023-2033

As we approach our centennial year, complexities of the modern world demand that we go beyond what was once deemed necessary for excellence in boys’ education. Our bold and forward-looking ten-year Strategic Plan is designed to respond to our changing world and think well into the future.
We invite you to journey through our Strategic Plan starting with the video below:

Our Bold Path Forward

In a world that demands ambitious action and bold thinking, St. George's School is ready to hold a different place within our community and beyond.

Our new Strategic Plan reflects our responsibility to graduate young men ready to do good in our world. It honours the best of our history and traditions while affirming our commitment to excellence in education and future readiness as a modern boys' school.

Our Unique Pathways

When we look at the School’s current strengths and connect them with what we hear from our Alumni and research, we believe that every boy needs to possess three traits at the point of Graduation:

• Wellbeing – of himself and those he is responsible for
• Leadership – modern, empathetic, strong, caring leadership
• An Entrepreneurial Mindset – the traits of building big ideas, building networks, personal agility, willingness to fail and try again

We feel that equipping boys with these three traits has become an essential imperative for future success. As such, we will be building out three Pathways from Kindergarten to Grade 12 through which every boy can develop and practice these traits.

Impact Makers

We are proud that we deliver the BC Curriculum to an excellent standard as a ministry-accredited school. Your son is already benefiting from this strong foundation, which is an essential part of his learning journey and supports him as he works toward his dreams and ambitions. We remain fully committed to maintaining this level of excellence.

But we also know that learning has developed in many areas that are not covered in the mainstream curriculum—areas that may hold deep interest to your son, areas that would be interesting and hugely beneficial for him to experience, explore, and advance in, areas that the world needs leaders and experts in, and societal impact makers.

We have begun the process of building out partnered programs that we believe will provide important experiences for some boys, depending on their interests—nurturing their learning at a high level, building relationships in critical areas, attracting top university programs to their endeavours, and all with the view of developing society’s future impact makers.
“We want to continue to see our graduates being a force for good. They want to be good and they want to do good.”
— Mr. David Young, Head of School

How We'll Get There
Four strategies will advance our vision of preparing St. George’s students to do good in our world while redefining our School’s role and place in and for our community, the city, and beyond.

Learning

We believe that to deliver a future-ready and relevant program that affirms our commitment to excellence, our learning community must be purpose-built as a launching pad for our graduates to find their place in the world and to make an impact.

Partnerships

Creating a better world is a call to work together. To truly make an impact in and for our School and communities, we must foster partnerships that drive transformation and serve as a blueprint for the future of learning.

Stewards

To be relevant in our changing world, we must apply diverse perspectives and ideas to solve the challenges we face. Nurturing meaningful connections and creating opportunities for those beyond our campus to thrive will benefit us all.

Resources

Building a sustainable future for our School is the foundation for this Strategic Plan and will propel our ambitious strategies beyond excellence to a future-proof state that is unique to St. George’s School.

We can't do this for ourselves,
and we can't do this by ourselves

We realize this is an ambitious plan, and yet we feel very responsible to our community that what we endeavour to do on their behalf is excellent.

Fortunately, we don't have to do it alone. We look forward to partnering with all members of our community and beyond as we steward our School into a ready and relevant future.
