Growing minds, purpose and character

Students at St. George’s explore, discover, question, grow, create, and collaborate. They discover who they are, and what they're passionate about. They embrace challenges, build character, push their own boundaries and have fun exploring interests they didn’t even know they had.

Our school is dedicated to creating intentional, meaningful experiences that prepare students to become lifelong learners who will go out into the world and become conscious citizens, committed to making the world a better place.

Here, learning is more than academics. It’s about character, education, and intentional social emotional learning in a values-driven learning community with students at the centre. By providing a healthy, safe, and supportive environment for each boy, growth opportunities become an everyday part of an enriching school experience. Students develop lifelong friendships and grow into fine young men, ready to contribute to their communities and make a positive impact in the world.

A whole child approach to character building

Each student’s experience at St. George’s is tailored to his whole self – considering his intellectual, physical, social, and ethical development. We do this by providing intentional, student-led learning experiences and opportunities to grow, develop purpose, and build character.

From Kindergarten to Grade 12, everything that happens at St. George’s is grounded in our values: Empathy, Humility, Integrity, Resilience, Respect, and Responsibility. It’s an approach that empowers young people with the self-awareness, compassion, confidence, and connection to go into the world, find success, and make positive contributions to their communities.

Connections from the classroom to the world

Learning at St. George’s is inquiry-based: an approach that puts each student at the centre of his education and allows him to personalize his experience. Through the process of exploring their own interests and passions, students connect their learning to their world, finding real-life relevance that is especially important for the way boys learn.

Because some of the most important growth happens outside of the classroom, students are encouraged to choose from a wide variety of extra- and co-curricular learning experiences including clubs, competitive and recreational sports, Outdoor Education trips, and Service Learning. Through these experiences, students integrate their learning and build lasting connections between the curriculum and the real world.

An engaged and supportive learning community

Students join a welcoming community of peers who share their passion for learning, commitment to personal growth, and excitement in exploring new things. This is a learning culture that celebrates each boy’s individual strengths, while at the same time supports students to become kind, empathetic, and engaged community members.

As students navigate the opportunities and challenges of a rigorous academic program, they find a strong network of support in their community. Caring teachers and staff, peer mentors, and services like personal and academic counselling are just a few of the ways students are empowered to build on their strengths, grow their confidence, and pursue their unique potential.
