Entrance Scholarships

Boarding Students: St. George’s School offers a select number of merit-based entrance scholarships to new Boarding Students each year.

Day Students: St. George’s School does not offer any merit-based entrance scholarships to Day Students other than those who are members of the Musqueam people. However, Day Students are eligible for our Financial Aid Program, which awards over $1,000,000 annually through needs-based bursaries.

How to apply for an Entrance Scholarship

  • Step 1 – Review Criteria

    Read the criteria for the scholarship for which you are applying and confirm that you are eligible to apply (see below).
  • Step 2 – Apply for Admission

    Complete an admissions application and submit all supporting documents.
     
  • Step 3 – Submit Scholarship Application

    Complete an online Entrance Scholarship Application (see bottom of page) in conjunction with your admissions application, and no later than February 1st, 2023.
     
  • Step 4 – Review

    The School’s Scholarship Committee will only review a student’s scholarship application after the Admissions Committee has deemed the student to be a competitive, mission-appropriate student who will be offered a position at the School. Once a student has been selected for admission, the Scholarship Committee reviews the student’s scholarship application to determine whether they will be awarded a scholarship.
     
  • Step 5 – Outcome

    A letter is released to the student indicating the outcome of their scholarship application conjunction with the admissions outcome letter so that a family can make an informed decision by the admissions acceptance deadline.

  • How are decisions made?

    The Scholarship Committee makes decisions based on the statements submitted through the scholarship application and the information included in a student’s admissions application, including school reports, a character reference form, and a student interview. 
     
  • Are sport-specific scholarships available?

    No. St. George’s School does not offer any sports scholarships. Merit-scholarships are based on our holistic admissions criteria and designed to acknowledge outstanding applicants who will contribute as leaders within our community. St. George’s School defines leadership as those contributing to their community for the benefit of others.
  • What are the values of your Entrance Scholarships?

    The majority of our Entrance Scholarships are valued at $5,000 credited towards a student’s annual tuition cost. A few of our scholarships exceed $5,000, so please read the specific scholarship overview provided below.

  • Aramco Leadership Scholarship

    The Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee of St. George’s School is pleased to offer a number of scholarships to be awarded to students enrolled in schools in the Aramco Community of Saudi Arabia — Dhahran, Ras Tanura, Abqaiq, and Udhailiyah Schools.
     
    What are Aramco Leadership Scholarships?
    These scholarships are valued at the difference between what Aramco will pay and the full tuition and boarding fees of St. George’s School — available annually to students who attend schools in the Aramco Community of Saudi Arabia.
     
    Are these scholarships open to day students?
    No. These are for boarding students only.
     
    Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships?
    These scholarships are open to applicants to St. George’s School who attend schools in the Aramco Community of Saudi Arabia and who meet the following criteria:
     
    • the student is applying for Grade 8–11;
    • he has a strong academic record;
    • he has demonstrated previous success in sports, the arts, community service, and leadership;
    • he has demonstrated interests outside the classroom.
     
    Are these scholarships renewable?
    Yes. These are offered in perpetuity as long as the student remains an active member of the St. George’s Community.
     
    What is the deadline to submit a Scholarship Application?
    Scholarship applications must be submitted no later than February 1st. Completed applications received before this date may be considered for early acceptance.

  • German Leadership Scholarship

    Effective November 1st, 2013, the Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee of St. George’s School is pleased to announce the creation of two scholarships to be awarded to permanent resident students of Germany who wish to attend St. George’s School.

    What are German Student Leadership Scholarships?
    $10,000 scholarships available annually to permanent residents of Germany to offset the cost of their tuition at St. George’s School.
     
    Are these scholarships open to day students?
    No. These are for boarding students only.
     
    Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships?
    These scholarships are open to applicants to St. George’s School who are permanent residents of Germany and who meet the following requirements:
     
    • the student is applying for Grade 8–11;
    • he has a strong academic record;
    • he has demonstrated previous success in sports, the arts, community service, and leadership;
    • he has demonstrated interests outside the classroom.
     
    Are these scholarships renewable?
    Yes. These are offered in perpetuity as long as the student remains an active member of the St. George’s Community.
     
    Does St. George’s School offer financial aid support?
    Yes. Any student who applies to St. George’s School is also eligible to apply for financial support.
     
    What is the deadline to submit a Scholarship Application?
    Scholarship applications must be submitted no later than February 1st. Completed applications received before this date may be considered for early acceptance.

  • Global Leadership Scholarship

    What are Global Leadership Scholarships?
    Global Leadership Scholarships are awarded annually and include partial tuition.

    Are these scholarships open to day students?
    No. These are for boarding students only.

    Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships?
    These scholarships are open to international applicants to St. George's School who meet the following requirements:
    • the student is in Grade 8–12;
    • he has a strong academic record;
    • he has demonstrated previous success in sports, the arts, community service, and leadership;
    • he has demonstrated interests outside of the classroom.

    Are these scholarships renewable?
    Yes!

    Does St. George's School offer financial aid support?
    Yes. Any student who applies to St. George's School is eligible to apply for financial support.

    How will you select the scholarship winners?
    Scholarships are awarded based on all documentation requested with your regular application, an essay (which you will complete on the online application), your current academic transcript, and an interview with a member of the Admissions staff.

  • Musqueam Leadership Scholarships

    The Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee of St. George’s School is pleased to offer scholarships to be awarded to mission-appropriate students who are members of the Musqueam people.

    What are Musqueam Leadership Scholarships?
    These scholarships are valued at the difference between what a Musqueam student is granted by the Government and the full cost of a St. George’s School education, including tuition, boarding (if required), basic school uniform, and access to funds for school-sponsored trips requiring additional fees.   
     
    Are these scholarships open to day and boarding students?
    Yes.
     
    Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships?
    These scholarships are open to applicants to St. George’s School who are members of the Musqueam people and who are students:
    • with strong academic records;
    • with demonstrated previous success in sports, the arts, community service, and leadership
    • with demonstrated interests outside the classroom 
    Are these scholarships renewable?
    Yes. These are offered in perpetuity as long as the student remains an active member of the St. George’s Community.
     
    Does St. George’s School offer financial aid support?
    Yes. A student who does not wish to apply for a scholarship but requires financial assistance is eligible to apply for financial support.
     
    What is the deadline to submit a Scholarship Application?
    Scholarship applications must be submitted on February 1st.

    What are Northern Canadian Leadership Scholarships?
    $10,000 scholarships available annually to offset the cost of tuition.
     
    Are these scholarships open to day students?
    No. These are for boarding students only.
     
    Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships?
    These scholarships are open to applicants to St. George’s School who reside in:
    • Yukon
    • North West Territories
    • Nunavut
    and who meet the following requirements:
    • the student is in Grade 8–10;
    • he has a strong academic record;
    • he has demonstrated previous success in sports, the arts, community service, and leadership;
    • he has demonstrated interests outside the classroom.
     
    Are these scholarships renewable?
    Yes. These would be offered in perpetuity as long as the student remains an active member of the St. George’s Community.
     
    Does St. George’s School offer financial aid support?
    Yes. Any student who applies to St. George’s School is eligible to apply for financial support.

    Effective September 2017, the Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee of St. George’s School is pleased to announce the creation of two scholarships to be awarded to permanent resident students of countries in Southeast Asia* who wish to attend St. George’s School.
     
    *Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam

    What are Southeast Asian Leadership Scholarships?
    $10,000 scholarships available annually to permanent residents of countries in Southeast Asia to offset the cost of their tuition at St. George’s School.
     
    Are these scholarships open to day students?
    No. These are for boarding students only.
     
    Who is eligible to apply for these scholarships?
    These scholarships are open to applicants to St. George’s School who are permanent residents of countries in Southeast Asia and who meet the following requirements:
