Building Character and Confidence Through Sports

Recreational and competitive athletics are an essential part of the St. George’s student experience. Sports programs create opportunities for athletes to develop their self-confidence, their leadership skills, and their commitment to others in pursuit of a common goal.

We believe scores and win-loss records are just one way to measure success. Character development is core to our athletics program, for the boys and for coaches. Students learn to focus on the value of the process — training, skill development, and teamwork — not just the outcome. Whether trying a new sport, playing for fun, or training and competing at the highest level, our athletics programs offer something for everyone.

Athletics in the Junior School

The Junior School offers a wide range of extracurricular sports, and students are encouraged to explore and join the activities that interest them. Pursuing extracurricular sports is a way for boys to channel their energy and develop individual and team-based skills that will serve them through their lives. Each program engages students in training sessions that are consistent and developmentally appropriate to their age level, helping students set and work towards personal and team goals.

Athletics in the Senior School

The Senior School Athletics Department is recognized as one of the most successful high school Athletics programs in the country. Our teams have captured nearly 200 Provincial, ISAA, and National Championships over the past two decades alone. With more than 15 varsity sport programs to choose from, over 80% of Senior School students participate on a competitive team.

Each term, our students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of co-curricular athletic options, including several competitive and recreational sports programs like Hockey, Rugby, Rowing, Basketball, Aquatics, and Golf.
