What is Global Stewardship? Why are you hearing about it? Here at St. George’s, we define Global Stewardship as infusing “an ethic of care” into our everyday interactions. In the way we treat ourselves, each other, and our communities. This ethic of care is our guiding framework for how we explore issues of diversity, perspectives, and sustainability and acts as a compass for how we navigate social, political, and economic (in)justice - locally and globally.
After a resounding success at last year’s conference, we are proud to announce a fourth iteration of the Global Stewardship Conference that will be held on Tuesday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 11 of 2020. Our conference title this year is “Going 4th: deep dive into the (un)known” where we are inviting all presenters to use a lens of curiosity and exploration for deep engagement to develop their sessions. Topics for presentation will continue to be presented through a global stewardship lens and will be connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, within a series of curated themes to organize the types of sessions we are offering. This is an opportunity for you to take something you are really passionate about and share it with us. Students and faculty are invited to once again have the opportunity to become conference participants as they learn about what it means to develop a global perspective and be inspired to take action.
With that said, we are looking for session leaders to run activities, workshops, and sessions that will kick-start conversations - both big and small - about what Global Stewardship is and what we can do from our home base of St. George’s. We want to learn from you - parents, Georgians, faculty, staff, students, groups, organizations, friends! We want to learn from your experiences and passions! We are especially interested in ideas for sessions that will allow us to ‘dive deep’ into a topic area, moving away from the traditional one-hour lecture format, towards half/full-day sessions that are built around hands-on activity, skill-building workshops, visits, and action.
