About St. George's School

Founded in 1930, St. George’s School is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys. In our community, students develop the skills to uncover their unique potential. They graduate as lifelong learners and leaders along the many paths they choose.

Our 2023-33 Strategic Plan

Ready & Relevant

Our world is changing rapidly and in complex ways. As a modern boys’ school approaching our centennial year, we recognize that we must be leaders who are at the very forefront of education so that we might meet that change and complexity on behalf of our students. Our new ten-year Strategic Plan is bold and ambitious and charts our course to be a School that is ready and relevant in our changing world.

Our Next Steps:

Building Impact Makers & Unique Pathways

Our purpose as a School, expressed in our mission and vision, is to prepare your son to thrive as a man, a good man, a man of positive impact. It is essential work.

The world your son will step into as that young man is fundamentally different than at any time in recent history, and is changing with ever-increasing rapidness.

It has become our focus to equip your son with the tools he will need to thrive in that disruptive landscape. It has become an urgent imperative.

After two years of consideration and exploration, we want to share two critical pieces of strategic work we have developed to ensure every St. George’s boy will have developed in him the personal traits that will cause him to stand out in the world as Ready and Relevant, as well as sharing our design of several areas of extended learning through which he can elevate his experiences and relationships to advance his progress when he graduates from St. George’s School.

Our Unique Pathways

When we look at the School’s current strengths and connect them with what we hear from our Alumni and research, we believe that every boy needs to possess three traits at the point of Graduation:

• Wellbeing – of himself and those he is responsible for
• Leadership – modern, empathetic, strong, caring leadership
• An Entrepreneurial Mindset – the traits of building big ideas, building networks, personal agility, willingness to fail and try again

We feel that equipping boys with these three traits has become an essential imperative for future success. As such, we will be building out three Pathways from Kindergarten to Grade 12 through which every boy can develop and practice these traits.

Impact Makers

We are proud that we deliver the BC Curriculum to an excellent standard as a ministry-accredited school. Your son is already benefiting from this strong foundation, which is an essential part of his learning journey and supports him as he works toward his dreams and ambitions. We remain fully committed to maintaining this level of excellence.

But we also know that learning has developed in many areas that are not covered in the mainstream curriculum—areas that may hold deep interest to your son, areas that would be interesting and hugely beneficial for him to experience, explore, and advance in, areas that the world needs leaders and experts in, and societal impact makers.

We have begun the process of building out partnered programs that we believe will provide important experiences for some boys, depending on their interests—nurturing their learning at a high level, building relationships in critical areas, attracting top university programs to their endeavours, and all with the view of developing society’s future impact makers.
