As we approach our centennial year, complexities of the modern world demand that we go beyond what was once deemed necessary for excellence in boys’ education. Our bold and forward-looking ten-year Strategic Plan is designed to respond to our changing world and think well into the future.
We invite you to journey through our Strategic Plan starting with the video below:
OUR BOLD PATH FORWARD
In a world that demands ambitious action and bold thinking, St. George's School is ready to hold a different place within our community and beyond.
Our new Strategic Plan reflects our responsibility to graduate young men ready to do good in our world. It honours the best of our history and traditions while affirming our commitment to excellence in education and future readiness as a modern boys' school.
“We want to continue to see our graduates being a force for good. They want to be good and they want to do good.” — David Young, Head of School
How We'll Get There Four strategies will advance our vision of preparing St. George’s students to do good in our world while redefining our School’s role and place in and for our community, the city, and beyond.
We believe that to deliver a future-ready and relevant program that affirms our commitment to excellence, our learning community must be purpose-built as a launching pad for our graduates to find their place in the world and to make an impact.
Creating a better world is a call to work together. To truly make an impact in and for our School and communities, we must foster partnerships that drive transformation and serve as a blueprint for the future of learning.
To be relevant in our changing world, we must apply diverse perspectives and ideas to solve the challenges we face. Nurturing meaningful connections and creating opportunities for those beyond our campus to thrive will benefit us all.
Building a sustainable future for our School is the foundation for this Strategic Plan and will propel our ambitious strategies beyond excellence to a future-proof state that is unique to St. George’s School.
Ms. Karyn Roberts, Junior School Principal
"When we talk about wellness with the boys, we're not just talking about the absence of problems. That's too narrow a way to look at it. Boys will be boys, and by that I mean boys will be empathic, boys will cry in front of each other. Boys will play together. Boys will be boys means they will take responsibility for their mistakes and actions. "
Chris Chan, Grade 12 Student
"Building fine young men is not just about university applications and top schools. It's about building a holistic, well-rounded person who strives to make sense of his place in the world."
Ms. Montanna Howe, Grade 5 Teacher
"I try to incorporate a worldview lens blending both an Indigenous and Western point of view. I believe new perspectives will support students to be ready in this ever-changing world."
Mr. David Young, Head of School
“We want a boy to journey through this School such that he arrives at graduation knowing who he is. We have a responsibility to create a landscape in which the fullness of his identity can be celebrated and discovered in all its uniqueness.”
Ms. Santhe LeBlanc, Head of Visual Arts
“Giving students space to chew on ideas, form opinions, and think strategically are skills we want them to develop by the time they graduate from St. George's School.”
Mr. Len Gurr, Senior School Principal
"What we want for each of our boys going forward is that they have opportunities to transform the world that they live in for the better."
Mr. Jamie Donnici ’11, English and Theatre Arts Teacher
“We’re trying to empower students in a way that allows them to find and express their voice and then put something out into the world that makes their school and community a better place.”
We can't do this for ourselves, and we can't do this by ourselves
We realize this is an ambitious plan, and yet we feel very responsible to our community that what we endeavour to do on their behalf is excellent.
Fortunately, we don't have to do it alone. We look forward to partnering with all members of our community and beyond as we steward our School into a ready and relevant future.
