Apply to St. George’s as a Day Student

Thank you for your interest in St. George's School. We will begin accepting applications for the 2024–25 academic year in September. Please find more information on our process below.

Our major points of intake are: Kindergarten, Grade 4, 6, 7, and 8. 
While applications are accepted for all grades, availability for non-intake is based on attrition.

  • Application Deadlines

    • Kindergarten and Grade 4–11 Day: November 1, 2023*
      *Late applications are accepted for Grades 4–11 as space permits. Due to volume, late applications may be considered after other applications are reviewed.
    • Grade 1–3 Day: January 31, 2024
    • Grade 8–12 Boarding (Early Decision): December 1, 2023
    • Grade 8–12 Boarding (Regular Decision): February 1, 2024

    • Financial Aid is available for Grades 6–12.
      • The deadline for Day applicants to apply for Financial Assistance is December 1, 2023.
      • The deadline for Boarding applicants to apply for Financial Assistance is February 1, 2024.
      • Current families must submit their application for Financial Aid by November 1, 2023.

For our major points of intake (Kindergarten, Grades 4, 6, 7, 8), the application process for St. George’s can be best understood in TWO PHASES

In the first phase, all students will submit an online application, academic report cards, a character reference form, and attend an in-house Group Assessment.

In the second phase, selected students will be shortlisted based on initial academic reports and their Group Assessment results. Selected students and families will then be invited to attend an interview and submit testing results.


PHASE ONE

    • All Grades Must Submit Supporting Documentation
    • Final report card from the 2022–23 school year 
      Current report cards (or any daycare or preschool progress reports as received)
    • Character Reference Form (available online through the application checklist)
      • Our first choice for a referee would be a classroom teacher (current or previous). Our second choice would be a coach, youth group director, club-leader, or someone who interacts with your child in a social setting. We prefer not to receive references from one-to-one tutors or family friends.
    • Any additional documents as outlined and agreed to in the online application
    Please note: only the requested documents will be reviewed in order to maintain consistency and fairness for all applicants. Please do not send additional items such as certificates, photos, or additional reference letters. These items will be discarded.
  • Step 3 | Group Assessments (Grade K, 4, 6, 7 and 8 ONLY)

    Kindergarten: All applicants will be invited to attend an in-house group assessment (early January 2024).

    Grades 4, 6, 7, 8 (Early applicants - late October; Selection of dates in mid-November): Applicants will be invited to self-schedule an in-house group assessment date. 
PHASE TWO

  • Step 4 | Shortlist For Interviews

    Kindergarten Interviews: Selected parents will be invited for interviews upon completion of the assessment.

    Grades 1, 2, 3, and 5: Non-intake year applications will be reviewed and only shortlisted candidates will be invited for assessments in April.

    Grades 4, 6, 7, and 8: Shortlisting decisions will be made across Grade levels based on report cards, the character reference form, application form, and group assessments. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a standardized test (see Step 5 for Grade specific testing information), and to schedule a student and parent Interview.

    Grades 9–11: Shortlisted candidates for Grades 9–11 will be invited for student and parent interviews in January. Please ensure to have all items on your checklist complete before the deadline to be considered.*

  • Step 5 | Complete Testing

    Kindergarten: See above for details on the Group Assessment process.  

    Grade 1-3, 5: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for assessments in the Spring.
    Grade 4: Only shortlisted candidates will need to write the Elementary SSAT. Testing will be held at St. George's School in December.

    Grades 6–8: Only shortlisted candidates will need to schedule and write the Middle-Level or Upper-Level SSAT. Applicants will be notified of their shortlist status after their Group Assessment.

    Grades 9–11: All applicants must register for and submit SSAT test results prior to December 31, 2023.

    International applicants (outside of Canada/USA): Must write the SSAT at any test location. Please do not hesitate to register for the SSAT as dates fill up quickly.

    Registering for the SSAT: Applicants required to take the can register to take the test in person at an SSAT test centre, online with the SSAT at home for residents of Canada or the USA, or take the test at any designated Prometric Test Centre. Please make sure to designate St. George's School as a score recipient. Applicants applying for financial aid are eligible to request testing fee waivers through the Admissions Team.

  • Step 6 | Admissions Decision

    Kindergarten: February 2, 2024

    Grade 4, 6, and 7: March 8, 2023

    Grade 8: February 28, 2024

    Non-Intake Years: Rolling through late April
