RugbyThe Senior and Junior Rugby Teams have both punched their ticket to the Provincials after months of hard work, commitment, and strong performances throughout the season. With everything now on the line, the focus shifts to the biggest stage of the year as both squads prepare to compete against the top teams in the province. The boys have continued to raise their level week after week and are ready for the challenge ahead. This is where all their hard work will be put to the test, and they’ll need the full support of the Saints community behind them as they chase a strong finish to an exciting year of Rugby.
Senior Rugby
Following the Sea To Sky Final against Collingwood yesterday – a 40-45 loss in overtime — the focus now shifts to Provincials in Abbotsford from Wednesday, May 27th–Saturday, May 30th. After a season of hard work and dedication, the team now has the opportunity to compete against the top programs in the province and test themselves at the highest level later this month in Abbotsford at the BCSS Championships. For many of the graduating players, this will be their final chance to represent the School, so make sure to come out and support the boys as they look to finish the season strong!
Junior Rugby
The week started with the B Team taking on St. Thomas Aquinas in a great, well-contested match. The Junior As then played Collingwood in the Zone Final, and after a hard-fought battle, the boys lost 24-21 in overtime. The boys now face a quick turnaround as they shift their focus toward the BC Invitational Tournament in South Surrey from Friday, May 22nd–Sunday, May 24th. The team has continued to build momentum throughout the season with their hard work, commitment, and strong performances. They are looking to carry their energy and preparation into this important weekend of Rugby.
Rowing
The St. George’s Rowing Program now looks ahead to the upcoming Delta Deas Regatta from Saturday, May 23rd–Monday, May 25th, building on their recent impressive outing at the Shawnigan Regatta. With athletes continuing to put in strong work both on the water and here at school, the Regatta will provide another valuable opportunity for the boys to test themselves against some strong competition.
Badminton
Our Badminton A Team finished the season with a respectable top-place finish, which helped them secure a clean sweep at last week's league finals. Winning 7-0, 7-0 in both of their matches. Competition has ramped up, firstly for the Sea To Sky Tournament, which took place yesterday at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary, and the Provincial Championships, taking place in a few weeks. We wish our boys the best of luck on the court as they continue what has already been a successful season thus far.
Field HockeyThe St. George’s Field Hockey Program is well underway, with the boys making the most of the warmer weather as they continue to train, develop their skills, and build strong on-field chemistry. With plenty of time now being spent out in the sun at training, the group continues to grow in confidence and cohesion as they work towards their upcoming games.

GolfThe St. George’s Golf Program is gearing up for a busy and exciting stretch, with the boys continuing to spend valuable time on the course as they prepare for several upcoming events. Alongside training rounds at McLeery and Fraserview, the team will compete in the Bill Egbers Tournament in the coming weeks before heading to Langley for the Green Tee Provincial Tune-Up on Saturday, May 23rd. These events will provide great opportunities for the boys to sharpen their game, build confidence in competitive settings, and continue developing consistency on the course under the ever-so-careful guidance of Coach Proznick.
Ultimate
After a strong season filled with growth, teamwork, and determination, the Junior Ultimate Team is headed to Provincials from Monday, May 25th–Tuesday, May 26th at Newton Athletic Park. The group has continued to improve throughout the year and is excited for the opportunity to compete during one of the season’s biggest weekends. Best of luck to the team as they travel to Provincials and represent the School with pride.
Tennis
The Tennis Team is packing their bags and heading to UBC for Provincials from Wednesday, May 20th–Sunday, May 24th after an exciting season on the courts. From long rallies to big wins, the players have continued to battle and improve all year long, and now they’re ready for a great week of competition. Best of luck to the Tennis Team as they represent the School and serve up some big performances!
Cross-Country Mountain Biking
After wrapping up the sixth League Meet, the Cross-Country Mountain Biking Team is shifting gears from racing to giving back with an upcoming Trail Maintenance Day on Wednesday, May 20th. The riders have continued to put together a strong season on the trails, showing plenty of determination, teamwork, and resilience along the way. Trail Day will give the team a chance to help maintain the routes they spend so much time riding — and maybe discover that moving rocks and shovelling dirt can be just as tiring as racing uphill! Great work to the team on another successful stretch of the season.
Track & Field
After a very successful outing at last week's Track Meet, over 20 of our athletes have qualified for the Sea To Sky Zone Champs on Friday, May 22nd. This is a testament to the students' hard work and training. Our Saints Track & Field athletes have been putting in mornings and nights over the last few weeks. None of these results would be possible without the hard work of our staff. Coach Brunelle would like to thank our Coaching Team: Mr. Tim Stevens, Mr. Josh Edra, Ms. Olivia Lundman, and Mr. Saif Zaman. Special thanks to Mr. Jonathan Figueroa and his team of trainers (Anthony, Parsa, and Ty) for managing our home base and medical needs. Finally, thank you to Mr. Gary Backhouse and his drivers, Ben and Manuel, for their help with transportation and equipment. Without this crew, our athletes wouldn’t have the chance to represent our School the way they do. Good luck to all our boys hitting the track in the coming weeks!
Water Polo
The St. George’s Senior Water Polo Team will spend the next few weeks continuing to train and prepare in the pool ahead of their upcoming matchup against Burnaby at Central Park Pool on Saturday, May 23rd. If you can, get down to the pool and cheer our boys on!
