Highlights Of The 2026 Science Fair

I just want to start by saying how proud I am of all of our projects this year. I cannot remember the last time we had so many Science Fair Projects, and this year's projects were of very high calibre! It was incredibly difficult to narrow things down to our Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair (GVRSF) representatives.

I am happy to talk about projects with your son over the next few weeks and provide additional feedback and support. Additionally, I would greatly appreciate it if your son could pick up his poster board by Friday, February 20th.

If your son has been selected to go to Regionals, please review the guidelines and register ASAP via the GVRSF Portal here.

If you discover that your son cannot be present at the Science Fair for all three days (a requirement for participating), please let me know so that our alternates can be informed and complete their applications. Please ask your son to send me a screenshot of his completed application so that I have this on file.

Finally, I want to offer a huge thank you to our judges who came out, listened to all the students, and gave of their time and hearts. Students, if you are able to write your judge a brief thank-you message, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm already looking forward to next year's school Science Fair! :)

Saints Book Club Enjoys

Second Meeting Of The Year

“And this, I propose, is the inhuman soul of the algorithm. It may think for us, it may work for us, it may organize our lives for us. But the algorithm will never bleed for us. The algorithm will never suffer for us. The algorithm will never mourn for us. In this refusal lies the essence of its moral being.” - Culpability, by Bruce Holsinger

On Tuesday, February 17th, the Saints Book Club gathered for its second meeting of the year about the novel Culpability by Bruce Holsinger.

35 students from Grades 8–12 and five teachers met over pizza to share their thoughts on the novel. After a group reading and an icebreaker, students split into smaller groups and facilitated their own discussions and questions. If you’re interested in what we talked about, check out the discussion here! Culpability is a tense family thriller that explores accountability in the age of artificial intelligence. At its heart, the novel questions whether robots and AI can be good, and whether they have the power to make human beings better.

For those new to the Saints Book Club: all students and staff are welcome to join! We read three books a year and strive to choose those published in the last two years. Students who attended the Book Club are invited to vote for the next novel.

Our last meeting of the year will take place in May after the Victoria Day long weekend. For more information on the Book Club, please contact: Ms. Sandra Gin or Ms. Stephanie Chan.
