You're Invited To The In Situ Exhibition Featuring Our Studio Art 12 Students:
Thursday, November 13–Tuesday, November 18

3352 Dunbar St. @ 17th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6S 2C1 p: 604 559 0576
Gallery Hours Tuesday to Saturday Noon to 5 pm
Sunday, Monday — Closed

Public spaces are never neutral; they are shaped by power, economics, culture, memory, and design. This concept is the critical core of In Situ, a moving exhibition showcasing the insightful artwork of the Art Department’s Studio Art 12 students. For this exhibition, students expanded their studio work to investigate specific, chosen public locations. Their artistic process was driven by an inquiry into how these places communicate messages about who is welcomed, who is centred, and which histories are amplified or erased. Using their practice to respond by either documenting or challenging what they found, the students created works in direct reaction to these sites. The resulting pieces, spanning from painting to photography, offer a powerful narrative about our everyday spaces.

Join Us For The Closing Reception On November 18:

Parents, students, and community members are warmly invited to join us for a Closing Reception on Tuesday, November 18th from 5:00–8:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Grade 10 Work Shadowing Day At St. George’s School | April 22
Volunteer To Be A Host Employer For Our Work Shadow Day:
Following the success of our Inaugural Work Shadow Day last year, where over half of the Grade 10 students spent the day at 15 local employers, we hope to expand the program to place the entire Grade 10 class in a Work Shadow Placement for the day. We are reaching out to our parents, alumni, neighbours and local organizations to help.

Students will be looking to:
  • Experience what a typical workday looks and feels like.
  • Connect with employees to discuss the company, industry and career pathways.
  • Learn about the education and career-life journey of employees.
  • Understand workplace safety skills, emergency procedures, and workplace rights and responsibilities.
All potential Host Employers will be invited to a Virtual Orientation and will have support from St. George’s School teachers through the process.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Sarah McLean, Head of Global Stewardship and CLE Department Head, at: [email protected].

Please express your interest by completing this form by November 28, 2025.

We hope you will be able to take part in one or both of these exciting programs!

BC School Sports Names Matthew C.'28
October Athlete Of The Month!

We wish to extend our congratulations to Matthew C. ’28 for being named BC School Sports October 2025 Athlete of the Month — a well-deserved recognition of his swimming talent, dedication, and exceptional time management skills!

Although Matthew did not compete at the Provincial Championships this season, it was for an extraordinary reason — he was representing St. George’s School at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Toronto at the end of October. There, Matthew had the unique opportunity to race alongside Olympic medalists and world record holders, gaining firsthand experience at the highest level of international competition.

Matthew competed in three events: The 50m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, and 400m Individual Medley, finishing 47th, 32nd, and 28th, respectively. During the meet, he also witnessed Canadian Olympic Silver Medalist Josh Liendo set a new 100m Butterfly World Short Course Record, which was one of five world records broken that night!

“This past week at the swimming World Cup stop in Toronto was definitely an incredible experience from start to finish. Getting to race side by side with athletes like Finlay Knox was surreal; it pushed me to dig deeper and gave me a firsthand look at the highest level of competition. Beyond my own races, watching multiple world record swims (five in one night) unfold right in front of me was unreal; the energy in the building was electric. Though my performance fell just short of what I had hoped for, participating in the World Cup truly inspired me. Overall, it was an unforgettable meet that leaves me eager and motivated for what’s next.” — Matthew C. ’28

Matthew continues to stay active in the pool, racing this weekend as part of a Lower Mainland High School All-Star Team at the 2025 University Cup Pacific hosted by UBC, under Head Coach Derrick Schoof — who also happens to be a former St. George’s Junior School Aquatics Coach from the late 1990s!

Congratulations, Matthew, on an incredible month of achievements. Your Saints community is proud of you!

Athletics Updates

CSSHL Hockey
It’s a busy week ahead for all of our Hockey Teams! The U15 AAA squad hits the road to take on STAR (Seattle, WA) in a three-game series from November 14th–16th. Meanwhile, the U15 Preps are at home, hosting STAR on Monday, November 10th, before heading to the U15 Elite Pat Quinn Classic later in the week — one of North America’s premier International Tournaments, attracting top talent and WHL scouts from across the region. The U17 Prep Team also has a full schedule, beginning with a home matchup against the North Shore Warriors on Monday, November 10th. They then travel to Yale for a three-day showcase, from November 14th–16th, taking on Calgary IHA, Edge, and Prairie HA. Rounding out the week, the U18 Preps host Yale on Friday, November 14th, before heading to the North Shore to battle the Warriors on Sunday, November 16th.

Also, mark your calendars for Saturday, December 6th, for the much-anticipated Teddy Bear Toss, which will take place as the U17s take on Wenatchee at 5:15 pm.

Best of luck to all our teams as they take the ice in an exciting week of competition!

Basketball
Basketball season is officially underway! The Senior Varsity Team has been selected, and tryouts for the other five teams are taking place after the Mid-Term Break. Coaches and players are eager to get started, focusing on teamwork and preparation for the season ahead. It’s shaping up to be an exciting year on the court. Best of luck to all teams as they begin their campaigns!

Rowing
The Rowing Team has been training hard throughout the fall, putting in early mornings on the water and focusing on intense sessions in the gym. Their dedication and teamwork continue to build a strong foundation as they prepare for upcoming winter and spring competitions. The Annual Indoor Rowing Event, Beat the Beast, will be held on Saturday, January 31st, in Dixon Gym, and we expect several hundred entrants — see you there!

Soccer
The 1st XI have officially qualified for BCSS Provincials after an impressive run through the playoffs. The team played in the Vancouver Sea to Sky Final on Thursday, November 6th, where they won 2-0 in rainy, cold conditions over Sir Winston Churchill. With their ticket already punched for the Provincial Championships, taking place from November 20th–22nd at Burnaby Lake, the squad is sharpening their play and maintaining its strong form. It’s been a season marked by skill, determination, and teamwork — qualities that will no doubt serve them well as they take on the province’s best later this month!

Swimming
The Swim Team had an outstanding showing at the VS2S Zone Championships, finishing as AAA Boys Champions and second overall. All 12 relay squads and 14 individual swimmers qualified for Provincials, including four Zone Champions: Preston S. ‘27 (100 Back), Joshua O. ‘27 (100 Free), Aleph W. ‘26 (50 Free), and Aidan Z. ‘26 (100 Free). They’ll now prepare to compete at the Provincial Championships on November 14th and 15th.

Special recognition goes to Matthew C. ‘28, who recently raced alongside Olympic medalists and world record holders at the Toronto World Cup, calling it an “incredible and inspiring experience.” Congratulations to all our swimmers on their continued success!

Volleyball
The Senior Volleyball Team battled hard in a thrilling five-set match against Vancouver College (VC) on Wednesday, November 5th at VC, winning the fourth set before narrowly falling by just two points in the fifth. They’ll now compete for a Wildcard Zone berth on Monday, November 10th at Sir Winston Churchill, with games at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Meanwhile, the Junior Team has earned an invitation to an Invitational Tournament running November 20th–22nd at schools in Burnaby and New Westminster. While not an official BCSS event, it brings together many of the Province’s top teams. This is an exciting opportunity for our Junior Volleyball Team to showcase their talent on a big stage!

Ski & Snowboard
Winter is on the horizon, and preparations are underway for another exciting season on the slopes! Team tryouts will be happening soon, with details to be shared in the coming days. Athletes are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on dates, locations, and requirements. It’s going to be a great season for our Ski and Snowboard Teams — stay tuned for more information!
