Thank You For Attending
The Meet The Teacher Evening!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us on campus for our Meet The Teacher Evening this week. The energy was palpable, and it reminded us all that our School is defined by its people! Meet The Teacher Evenings, Learning Conferences, and Progress Reports are our three key school-wide learning and communication opportunities. Our aim for these events is to create opportunities to learn about your child, provide high-quality feedback on student progress towards learning outcomes, highlight areas of strength and resilience, and stimulate and support ongoing dialogue about student performance and growth.
Please note the following upcoming scheduled opportunities:

Outside of these scheduled opportunities, families are warmly welcomed to be in touch with their child’s teachers, advisors and coaches directly at any time.
A Supportive Approach
To Learning & Deadlines
At St. George's School, we believe that clear communication and support are crucial for students’ success. We understand that life can be busy, and we're here to help our students thrive.
Meeting Deadlines and Submitting Assignments
When it comes to assignments, we find that meeting deadlines is a valuable skill that prepares students for current and future success. We also know that sometimes things happen, and a deadline might be missed. On the odd occasion that a student can’t submit an assignment on time, we typically allow a two to five-day window for late submissions. We also encourage teachers to consider other ways of assessing student understanding, such as through conversation. We want to avoid a situation where students feel overwhelmed by a long list of missing assignments.
If a student anticipates they might not be able to complete an assignment on time, we strongly encourage them to talk to their teacher. Oftentimes, teachers can work with the student to make alternative arrangements. Similarly, if a student knows they will miss an in-class assignment, they should take the initiative to communicate with their teacher and schedule a new time to complete it.
Support Is Always Available
We want every student to feel empowered to ask for help when they need it. We have support times built into the school schedule to make it easy to coordinate. Our Connection Blocks are dedicated weekly times where students can connect with their teachers and get support without interfering with their out-of-school commitments.
Beyond that, we have additional support options available:
Support Block: Our Learning Support Team is available to help students from Monday to Thursday after school in Room B128.
Peer Tutoring: If students are more comfortable working with a peer, they can get help from a student tutor on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the second half of lunch in the same room.
We all want our students to be successful and feel supported at St. George's School. Being responsible for meeting expected deadlines and taking the initiative to communicate with teachers is a crucial step in that journey.
