The classroom was transformed into a Shakespearean scene as everyone enjoyed a “Bard Breakfast,” complete with English tea and treats. Laughter and excitement filled the air as students shared their favourite quotes and scenes, making this a memorable end to their Shakespeare unit!

Senior Water Polo:
Coaches: Head Coach Parsa Moridy, Ms. Carroll-Woolery, Alex P. '24, Nicky P. '24
Captains: Derek L. '25, Kris Y. '25
MVPS: JV - Ahti K. '27, Senior — Derek L. ‘25 and Kris Y. ‘25
The Senior Water Polo Team showed tremendous growth this year, both in numbers, skills, and enthusiasm. With over 30 boys participating, they were able to enter teams in both the U14 and SR U18 Divisions of the spring Metro League! The teams played multiple friendlies with Burnaby, North Shore, and Vipers and came out with a near 500 record despite those other teams training together all year long. Leading scorers were Tyler C. '28 in the Seniors and Owen Z. '29 in the Juniors. Tej G. '26 and Weston B. '28 were the key walls in defence, playing the most minutes in goal. Most of the boys playing were Grade 10 and under, so it's a very exciting group going forward, the next couple of years!
Senior Swim Team:
A busy few weeks for many boys on the Senior Swim Team outside of their Fall school season:
Five boys raced at the annual Mel Zajac International in late May, sharing the pool with Olympians Josh Liendo, Kyle Masse, and more. Congrats to Preston S. '27, Joshua O. '27, Dylan D. '28, Tyler C. '28, and Owen Z. '29.
Matthew C. ‘28 is wrapping up racing at the Canadian National Swim Trials in Victoria as one of the youngest male competitors. He is also witnessing some of the greatest Canadian swimming performances ever, with Josh Liendo and Ilya Kharun leading Free/Fly events, and then Summer MacIntosh having one of the greatest single Swim Meets ever internationally with three World Records! Matthew raced the 50/100/200 Breast and 200/400 IM's this week, his best result being a 44th Senior and 22nd Junior place finish in the 200m Individual Medley.
Several Senior boys were lucky enough to spend an afternoon with Olympic Gold medalist and WR holder Maggie MacNeil, who was in Vancouver for some swim stroke clinics, but also dropped into Saints for a special Senior Team session on Friday afternoon! From the boys:
Preston S. '27: "It was an exciting and unpredictable experience! Maggie wasn't afraid to make us repeat reps; she viewed it as an opportunity for us to build lifelong habits, not just in swimming, but as evolving human beings."
Owen Z. '29: "The clinic was great, we went over many advanced technical aspects of the sport."
Coach Andrew Conroy '09: "My biggest takeaway from Maggie’s visit was the importance of streamlining and underwater dolphin kick. Even though I’ve always prioritized this as a coach and a swimmer, I got to see up close just how effective great underwaters can be. She said, 'dolphin kick is the fifth stroke,' and that stuck with me."

On Another Successful Year!
This officially brings us to the end of the year in Saints Athletics! This year was highlighted by six BCSS Championship banners in Swimming, Skiing, Curling, Rugby, Badminton, and Golf. Additionally, our Tennis Team claimed a Silver at their Provincial Championships and our Varsity Basketball Team claimed a Bronze at their 'AAAA' Provincial Championships. The Rowing Team also had five crews claim medals at their National Championship Regatta. The CSSHL Hockey Program saw ten of our U15 Prep athletes drafted into the WHL, and the U18 Prep won the Robertson Invitational Tournament at Shawnigan. On top of these successful team and individual performances, this year was highlighted by some amazing experiences for our student-athletes, including the Senior Rugby Tour to France and Spain, Junior and Senior Basketball to Palm Springs, Golf to Palm Springs, and St. George's School hosting the BCSS Boys & Girls AAA Tennis Championships.
One final massive thank you goes to all of our coaches — the faculty, staff, volunteers, outside coaches, and alumni who have contributed to the success and experience of our student-athletes this year!
