Senior School Updates — April 17, 2025

Thank You To Everyone Who Attended

The Senior School ArtsWeek!

The Senior School enjoyed an action-packed week full of lively assemblies, artist talks, and engaging workshops.

We are delighted to share the Open Ceremony speech by Will S. '25, focusing on the theme of this year’s ArtsWeek:

Artists Among Us
Look around. What do you see? A room full of students, friends, familiar faces? Look again. This room is alive with possibility, with perspectives waiting to be shared, with voices that — whether they know it yet or not—are capable of creating something new.

Some of you already call yourselves artists. You draw, you write, you play music, you act. You give form to your thoughts and emotions, making them visible, audible, tangible. But the truth is, we are all artists — not because we can hold a paintbrush or a camera, but because we have the capacity to see the world as it could be, not just as it is.

Art is not about talent alone; it is about paying attention. It is about asking, “What if?” It is about stepping beyond what is expected, what is routine, and daring to create something meaningful. Some of you do this through words, some through movement, some through the way you think and question. But the real question is: Will you recognize this in yourself? Will you make space for imagination, for discovery?

Because when you do—when you truly open yourself to the possibilities of creation—you don’t just make art. You make meaning. You make change. You make a life that is awake.

So as we step into ArtsWeek, I invite you to not only celebrate those who create but to listen for that artist within you. It is there. The question is: Will you give it the chance to speak?
