Flex Day Recap — April 10
Just like that, we have arrived at the penultimate Flex Day of the school year!
The Grade 8s had a fun morning with a PHE Deep Dive. They rotated through three different games: Teacher’s Revenge, handball, and kickball. In the afternoon, the Grades 8s had Community and Career-Life Education Sessions.
The Grade 9s participated in a Math Deep Dive in the morning, where they attended various math-themed workshops. These included logic puzzles, collaborative problem-solving, and circle geometry. In the afternoon, they broke off into Advisory Groups for career and community engagement activities, such as a field trip to the Museum of Vancouver, a field trip to the YWCA, and an on-site visit and lesson in Coast Salish weaving by Anjeanette Dawson.
The Grade 10s all participated in various work placements or attended Take Your Child To Work Day. Hopefully, they enjoyed a fun and impactful day learning about various careers and exploring passions.
The Grade 11s continued with their community placements, where they were all off-site in varying locations, including elementary schools in Vancouver, visiting with seniors at Crofton Manor and volunteering at food security initiatives such as Food Stash and Quest. In the afternoon, they went to toolkit workshops hosted by several staff and faculty members on topics such as personal financial planning, home skills, professional writing development, and learning to drywall. The Grade 11s finished up their day with a University Counselling Session in the Auditorium.
The Grade 12s had University Counselling and Career-Life Education Sessions in the morning at the School, and worked on their Capstone Projects in the afternoon while also going to Toolkit Workshops covering the importance of fostering healthy relationships and consent and boundaries.
One more to go!

School Reach Intermediate Champions
The St. George’s Senior Boys on the Reach For The Top Team competed in the Provincial Championships on Friday. After a full day of classes, we went out to Surrey for the provincial Tournament, which ran from 3:30–10:00 pm.
The boys were one of the favourites but were missing their top player. But it is a deep team, and they finished the qualifications second overall out of 20 schools participating with a record of three wins and no losses. They then went through the playoffs strong, winning through to the finals with scores of 370–190 over Churchill, 410–280 over UTP and a close 340–310 win against Fraser Heights.
The finals were the two top schools, St. George’s School and McMath, and this is where the boys ran into their Waterloo. The final score was 510–320, which shows that almost no questions were missed and both teams were firing on all cylinders.
Despite the loss, the team has qualified for the National Reach Top Championships, taking place in June. The team has high hopes as most of last year’s squad, which placed third at the Nationals, are back to take that last step.
The provincial squad consisted of (left to right in the photo):
Jerry C. ‘26, Justin B. ‘25, Ray Z. ‘26, Brian Q. ‘25, Alex B. ‘25 (captain), Cole M. ‘25, Osbert W. ‘26 & Owen C. ‘26.

European History & Culture Tour
Greetings Families,
Are you a parent of a student who will be graduating in '29, '28 and ‘27?
If so, your child is invited to join us on a once-in-a-lifetime international travel experience with their peers. Please be sure to register for this info session to learn more details about this upcoming travel opportunity, and partake in the Social Studies Department European History and Culture Tour to France and Italy!
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world by engaging with other cultures, discovering more about themselves, and developing independence, confidence, empathy, and self-awareness. They also get the opportunity to consider their impact on the world and become inspired to embrace new opportunities. These skills are critical to encouraging personal development and growth within students and creating the global citizens of tomorrow. I would love to have your child join us on this adventure!
