Senior School Updates — October 24, 2024

Remembrance Day On November 11 — Senior School Full Attendance

Remembrance Day is an important day on the School’s calendar. The Senior School will be honouring this day through a ceremony attended by faculty, staff, and students, taking place on Monday, November 11th from 10:30–11:30 am in Dixon Gym. The community (parents, alumni, and community at large) is invited to join this special ceremony either on campus or via livestream.

All Senior School students are required to be in attendance. Students should arrive at the School at 9:30 am in their #1 School Uniform and report directly to their Advisory classroom. Attendance is mandatory and will be taken in Advisory Group. Donations to the Poppy Fund will be collected, and poppies will be distributed. Students will be dismissed immediately following the Service (approximately 11:30 am).

Halloween Assembly

On Thursday, October 31st, we invite all students, faculty, and staff at the Senior School campus to show creativity and fun by dressing in a favourite costume during our annual Halloween Assembly. We ask that all costumes worn are kept respectful and appropriate. The following are a few considerations and guidelines to keep in mind:
  • Culture, Religion, Race, or Gender are not costumes — when in doubt, please err on the side of caution.
  • Costumes that dehumanize or perpetuate stereotypes are not permitted — if you are unsure, ask.
  • Costumes that are overly sexualized or that depict sexual exploitation are not permitted.
  • Avoid violent or overly bloody images — there is a difference between frightening and gruesome.
  • Costumes may not contain weapons or outfits that resemble weapons — including guns, knives, or swords.
In addition to making thoughtful costume choices, we ask students to please be respectful of school property and report any acts of vandalism or other incidents of concern to a teacher or a school administrator.
