I graduated from St. George’s in 2007, and went to the UK to pursue my law degree. I chose the UK because I did not want to wait four years to start law school in Canada or America. After my Bachelors degree in law (LLB) at Kingston University, I enrolled in the Legal Practice Course, which is the UK equivalent of a Bar exam. I left London shortly after to Tanzania, where I worked in the Trial Chamber of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. It was from this experience that I found my passion for international law and international criminal justice. I went on to obtain a Masters degree in Public International Law (LLM) at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Nearby in The Hague, I worked on the Prlić defence team at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, as well as the Trial Chambers at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

 

I am currently undertaking my PhD in international criminal law at King’s College London. I am concurrently working at Volterra Fietta LLP, which is a Tier 1 firm operating as the only public international law firm in the world.

 

I have elected to volunteer my time in this mentorship program because I think it is an incredibly valuable source of knowledge and wisdom for aspiring students. The things I would tell myself if I could go back in time… St. George’s has played a formative role in my development, and I am happy to be in a position to assist students interested in the legal profession.
