Senior School Updates — January 16, 2026

2026-27 Course Planning

As the calendar changes, it’s natural for our Grade 8–11 students to cast their eyes towards the next school year. We are very excited about our academic offerings for 2026-27 and look forward to working with our families to find the best fit for each of our students.

To support that end goal, we have three pillars in our planning:
  • Grade-Specific Course Planning Information eBlasts to be distributed on Wednesday, January 21st.
  • The Academic Handbook, which contains course descriptions, details about graduation requirements, academic policies, course change dates, etc., will be distributed on Friday, February 13th.
  • Individualized Course Planning Meetings with our St. George’s University Counsellors for our Grade 10 and 11 students. Ongoing throughout January to March.
More information on dates and resources will be shared on Wednesday, January 21st. We look forward to connecting with you!

St. George's Filmmakers Shine At BC's
Largest Student Film Competition

A group of Senior Film students recently competed in the Zoom Film Festival, the largest student film competition in British Columbia. With only 48 hours to produce a five-minute short film incorporating a surprise prop and theme, students across the province submitted over 100 entries.

Our students’ film, The Great Pretender, impressed the judges and earned two of the nine Senior awards: Best Cinematography and Best Performance, awarded to Aedan W. ‘26. They were also nominated for Best Senior Overall, a notable achievement in such a competitive field.

The awards were announced at a red-carpet gala hosted on December 6th at Mulgrave School, where the team joined fellow filmmakers to celebrate their work. In addition to the recognition, the prizes for their two awards totalled over $5,000, including a scholarship to Vancouver Film School’s Acting Program for Aedan W. ‘26.

We are incredibly proud of our emerging filmmakers and the creativity, discipline, and collaboration they demonstrated throughout the competition. Congratulations to Aedan W. ‘26, Rupert S. ‘27, Tom W. ‘27, Thatcher C. ‘26, Kayden K. ‘26, Tristan M. ‘26, and Ziming W. ‘26 on this outstanding achievement — we can’t wait to see what you create next!
