Senior School Tree Lighting Ceremony
On November 28
Whole School Assembly | Princeps Hall

On Friday, November 28th, the Senior School will kick off this year’s Hamper Drive with the Inaugural Tree Lighting Ceremony. During our Whole School Assembly, a festive tree will be lit in Princeps Hall for all to enjoy. Students will have the opportunity over the coming weeks to decorate this community tree and create a display that represents the entire Senior School community. Encourage your son to decorate an ornament to hang on the tree to showcase during our Community Day!

Hoops For Hampers
November 27–December 5

Starting Thursday, November 27th at lunchtime, the Hoops for Hampers Basketball Tournament will commence, with the finals taking place the following week on Friday, December 5th at lunch in Dixon Gym. In 3v3 half-court games, student teams will battle it out for the championship title, showcasing their skills and teamwork on the court. At $5 per player, students are asked to build teams of five to compete in a 16-team bracket-style tournament. Encourage your boys to come showcase their basketball skills in Dixon Gym for a festive, competitive, and fun-spirited event in support of the Hamper Drive!

Senior School Student Donations
Building Backpacks

The Senior School has partnered with the Backpack Buddies Organization to build backpacks to be distributed to families across the Lower Mainland. The Senior School has committed to collecting enough items to build 400 backpacks this year. Through your son's Advisor, they will each be given a list of non-perishable food items that they are responsible for collecting and bringing to the School for assembly on Community Day. Students are encouraged to complete their own shopping as part of a collective effort by our Senior School student body to support this important initiative for our School.

Semester 2 Elective Course Change

We are quickly approaching the end of Semester 1. Semester courses are half a year in length, with Semester 1 courses finishing January 23, 2026, and Semester 2 courses beginning January 26, 2026. Most Grade 8 and 9 student electives are semester-length, while only a few Grade 11 and 12 electives are. Please note that course change requests are subject to space availability in the requested course.

Starting Monday, December 1st, and ending Friday, December 19th at 4:00 pm, students will have an opportunity to request any changes to their semester-long electives through a Google Form, which will be directly distributed to them via an email from Ms. Bahia on Monday, December 1st. If your child is interested in switching their Semester 2 elective, please direct them to the Google Form or to the Academics Office for assistance.

St. George’s School teachers through the process.

With all four teams putting in strong work, we encourage families and supporters to head out to the rinks and support our boys!

Basketball
Basketball season is officially back in motion after the Mid-Term Break. The Senior Varsity Team enjoyed a fun and successful Team-Building Training Camp in Los Angeles, and is gearing up for their first game on Monday, November 24th at Handsworth, as well as their first home game series, set for Thursday, November 27th. The remaining teams are now in the final stages of try-outs, and the energy across the program is building as the rosters take shape. We wish all boys the very best as teams are finalized. An exciting season on the Saints courts is just around the corner!

Rowing
Novice Rowing Tryouts have just taken place, with normal training commencing this coming week for all our teams. Our boys are continuing to work hard and show their dedication to their training as they build towards the competition period.

Soccer
The 1st XI have officially booked their place at BCSS Provincials after an impressive playoff run, capped by a 2–0 win over Sir Winston Churchill in the Vancouver Sea to Sky Final. With the Provincials kicking off this weekend at Burnaby Lake from November 20th–22nd, the squad has been sharpening their play and staying focused during training. It comes down to this momentous weekend; months of hard work, resilience, and teamwork now carry them onto the provincial stage. We wish the boys the very best as they represent our School with pride and take on the province’s best!

Swimming
The Saints Swimming Team capped off an exceptional campaign by winning the Provincial Championships over the Mid-Term Break. Following their strong performance at the VS2S Zone Championships, where they finished as AAA Boys Champions and second overall, with all 12 relay squads and 14 individual swimmers qualifying, the team carried their momentum onto the provincial stage. Their collective effort, depth, and determination in the pool paid off in the best possible way. This was an outstanding achievement and a fitting finish to a remarkable season. Congratulations, Swim Team!

Volleyball
Our Junior Volleyball Team has earned an invitation to an Invitational Tournament running now until Saturday, November 22nd, at schools in Burnaby and New Westminster. While not an official BCSS event, it brings together many of the Province’s top teams, providing an exciting opportunity for our Junior Volleyball Team to showcase their talent on a big stage. Best of luck to our Junior players!

As we gear up for the colder months, preparations are underway for another exciting season on the slopes. Team tryouts will be held soon on Blackcomb Mountain, with full details to be shared in the coming days. Athletes are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on dates, meeting points, and requirements. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic season for our Ski and Snowboard Team. More information coming soon!
