Golf team breaks new ground at the Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational Tournament

On Sunday, April 9th, five members of the St. George's Golf Team travelled to Everett, Washington to participate in the 16th Annual Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational. The tournament featured 22 teams from Washington State, with St. George’s being the lone Canadian school. The Saints team played a practice round late Sunday evening and the boys did a fantastic job mapping out their plan for Monday’s tournament round.  Unfortunately, Monday brought challenging weather conditions; some of the veteran coaches called it the worst weather in the history of the tournament. Nevertheless, our student-athletes persevered and posted some great scores relative to their competitors. Teams’ count 4 of the best 5 scores and when the numbers were tallied, St. George’s was atop the leaderboard with a combined score of 310.  Perry Xin led the way for the Saints team, shooting a 76 which was good for 4th place individual. Tony Li, Grade 9, cracked the top 6 with a score of 77. Rounding out our team was Finn Lawlor (78), Riley Lai (79), and Josh Jeyaratnam (88). This was the third time that Saints attended this event and it was a first time they were victorious after previous 2nd place and 5th place finishes.
