Kevin Poskitt '02
Kevin has spent the past decade working in technology starting at IBM, then BusinessObjects and SAP. Currently, he works for a local Vancouver startup called Allocadia where he helped manage various partnerships with technology vendors, implementation partners, and software resellers. He started my career at IBM accidentally, at the time he hadn’t thought about working in technology but has had a long history of tech related interests — He remembers doing 3D animation at Summer at St. George’s in Grade 7 and he had a Linux box just for the fun of it when he was in Grade 9. Since then, he has held a number of positions in marketing, sales, finance, and partnerships working with some of the top technology companies in the world and has been exposed to many software and hardware innovations and key trends. He is always interested to learn what people are passionate about, and he wanted to help people attain their goals through direct feedback and coaching.
He has had the good fortune and support of various mentors and managers through his career and those experiences have fundamentally changed his life. He has become a better and more successful person because of his willingness to listen to the advice of others, to ask for help, and mostly due to the kindness of great leaders who take the time to teach and pass on lessons they have learned. He wants to be a mentor because he feels that he has an obligation to pay forward the great opportunities that have been afforded to him by others. He also is actively participating as a mentee in this program and thinks that you can never be too successful or advanced in your career to learn from those that have been successful before you or those that will be successful after you.
