Volleyball is a successful and exciting program that begins with our Junior School Volleyball Club ( Grade 6 and 7 levels), and is run by Coach Shin. While they do not play league games, players will culminate with some large intramural competition. Once senior school begins, we have competitive Spring teams at the Grade 8 and 9 levels with Junior (Grade 10) and Varsity (Grade 11 and 12) teams in the Fall. Past program coaches–such as Mark Sauer and Carol Pollock–have shown a dedication to the sport that further elevated the program.
Our competitive teams play in the
GVISSAA League and travel across the Lower Mainland. We also enter small local tournaments and big-scale tournaments at places like Douglas College and UBC. Our Fall teams have the opportunity to compete in the Lower Mainland tournament to try and qualify for Provincials. Our Varsity coach, Sean Sanderson, is also an expert in Beach Volleyball and runs Beach Clinics with many Saints athletes training and playing over the summer.
Over the years, we've had several boys be recruited to play University volleyball and they often come back to help coach within the program or assist players with finding opportunities in the sport after high school. Each year, we have more and more players joining the community club programs and this elevates our team play at a higher level as well. The future looks bright for Saints Volleyball! Come out and watch us train or play sometime and be impressed by the skills and focus of these great student-athletes.
