Curling is a rapidly growing, new sport at St. George’s. The goal of the first term is to teach students the fundamental skills of curling. All students are welcome to play, although we are limited to 24 students per term. There is a focus on teamwork and communication as the students get past the basics and begin playing games as quickly as possible.
In second term, our competitive group begins. Students must successfully tryout in order to make the team. We focus on fine-tuning skills with drills repetition. Strategy is a core discipline in curling The students must learn to acknowledge their own strengths and weaknesses, and the skips must learn not just to call games that are strategically sound, but take into account the skills that teammates bring to the game. They will also play in several bonspiels, and will make a run for provincials.
