Music AP is a course designed to give the student practical application of first-year university-level music theory. It is open to all senior students with an interest in the subject. Previous experience in theory through Royal Conservatory or similar lessons is not a requirement of the course but will be of great assistance. Students will gain AP credit in addition to regular course credits. The class focuses on harmony, melody, and musical form as it applies to composition, analysis, and performance. Participating students will be required to compose music, research and analyze compositions, and sight sing. A computer music lab will be put at their disposal. The course works toward the writing of the Music AP exam in May and the completion of a Major Project in June.
