Physical Education (PE) makes a significant impact on the overall education of our St. George’s students. It is a mandatory course in Grades 8-10 and there are elective courses for boys in senior grades. Our mission is to teach boys to be “Fit for Life”. This means to enjoy the benefits of physical activity for their entire lives as well as to be fit (physically, mentally, emotionally and socially) for whatever life throws your way.
The goals of our energetic teaching staff are to provide success for every individual student - regardless of physical abilities. Following the new B.C. Curriculum - we present activities in ways that encourage effort, preparedness, a positive attitude, sportsmanship, cooperation, and skill improvement. Teaching, reinforcement, and evaluation of these behaviours are the primary objectives. We believe that students who work on these areas will make natural improvements in the skill and performance aspects of Physical Education - becoming physically literate and confident.
Over the course of the year, students are exposed to a variety of lifelong sports and activities that include badminton, ball hockey, basketball, fitness, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and ultimate. In addition, students will also utilize our aquatics facility and will receive instruction in stroke correction, water polo and endurance training.
