- Family Law
After graduating from St. George’s in 2000, David attended the University of British Columbia where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in 2004, and the University of Calgary where he obtained a Juris Doctor degree in 2008. David commenced his legal career by articling at and practicing with a litigation boutique for a number of years where he represented clients in all levels of the British Columbia Courts and in Federal Court. He then practiced as in-house counsel at a real estate development and construction firm where he gained experience in navigating the development and rezoning process, and in negotiating with various municipalities in the Lower Mainland.

David currently practices at Direction Legal LLP, a full-service law firm where he focuses on
litigation. Since his call to the bar, David has practiced primarily as a barrister with a focus on real estate litigation representing both buyers and sellers in failed real estate transactions, wills and estates litigation, and matrimonial law with a focus on tracing overseas financial assets and division of property. David also has extensive experience in complex commercial disputes regarding the law of resulting and constructive trusts and beneficial ownership.

In his spare time, David likes to spend time with his young children and recognizes the need for a good work-life balance in managing a busy legal practice while also making time for his family and other pursuits.

Why I want to become a mentor

I had a great experience at St. George’s and would like to help mentor the next generation of young Georgians. Having good mentors guide me through the process of applying for and surviving law school and launching my career in litigation was instrumental to my development as a lawyer today, and I would like to pass on the knowledge and experience that I gained.
