Rezoning Application Submitted

 January 2014
In late December, the School formally submitted a rezoning application for the Senior School Campus. The plans submitted were mostly unchanged from those that were shared with the community at our Open House on October 28, 2013. The purpose of this application is to create unique zoning for the campus that creates a long term vision for how development may or may not take place on the site. The current RS-5 zoning is written for single-family residential and, though schools are an allowed use, every project involves uncertainty and negotiation for both neighbours and the School. Through a process of consultation, the new zoning would articulate the density, massing, form, and locations of development on the site so this uncertainty for all can be reduced. This is not a development application and any new project would likely be at least a few years away. It does, however, provide the zoning that would guide City staff when the time comes to evaluate a development application. Now that the application is submitted, the City will notify us to erect a Notice of the application on the site and will determine the process for ongoing consultation. Likely a letter outlining the application will be mailed to the immediate community in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions about the application please feel free to contact Neil Piller, (npiller@stgeorges.bc.ca) Director of Operations at the School, or contact the City of Vancouver Planning Department directly.
