The Midway is located in the staff parking lot on the west side of the school, under the big tents. It is run by Grade 7 parents and their sons. There are about 14 carnival-type games, such as Dart Toss, Wheel of Fortune, Basketball Hoop, etc. Each Midway game is run by one or two teams of a Grade 7 boy and his parent. This is a very popular booth because any age can play, and everyone wins a prize.
First, you buy tickets to the games you want to play and then test your skill or try your luck at one or more of the games. As an example, for the basketball hoop (a skill game), you are given a basketball and then you try to shoot the ball into the hoop. The number of times you are able to throw the basketball into the hoop dictates the type of prize that you win (small, medium, or large). Other games such as the Wheel of Fortune (a luck game) are based more on how lucky you are (i.e. where do you think the wheel will stop, which indicates which prize you will win).
The Midway is a lot of fun for the boys and their parents running the games as well as the patrons playing the games. It is fun for the boys and their parent because it is a special bonding time and great memories will be formed. Also, it is a fun way for the boys to be involved with the school and to complete their journey at the Junior School before they move to the Senior School.
May fun be had by all!
