Junior School Information

For more information about Hamper Drive activities at the Junior School, please contact Pat Pachchigar: ppachchigar@stgeorges.bc.ca

Each homeroom will support three families.
The students will be in charge of collecting non-perishable food items, treats, and creating a personalized card for each family. We have partnered with Jason’s No Frills on Dunbar. Please consider purchasing food items at the Dunbar location (Alma at 4th Avenue) as they are a significant partner in providing the fresh produce.

The Junior School is also supporting the purchase of fresh produce for the hampers through these special events:

  • Week of December 4 - 8 - Gingerbread House raffle sale. $2 per ticket or $5 for 3. Raffle Draw on Friday 8th December
  • Wednesday, December 6 - Grade 7 Dance - 5:00 - 7:00 pm
  • Friday December 8 - Festive Dress-Up Day- Bring in $2 and dress up in your festive attire, whether that is your festive pajamas, ugly sweater or a festive hat/tie/socks.
  • Monday, December 11 - Grade 7 No Frills shopping day - Grade 7 students will be going to No Frills to purchase food as part of the curricular program around food security
  • Monday, December 11 - Grade 1 Holiday Craft Market - 2:15pm in the dining hall. Grade one families are asked to join us for an afternoon at the Festive Craft Market and get creative. This is followed by a warm drink and cookies whilst reading with your son. Entry to this event is by a voluntary donation of your choice.
  • Monday, December 11 - Hot Chocolate and Snowman Kit Sale - Please join us after school in front of the school and the primary playground for a cup of hot chocolate (with or without marshmallows) for $2, Snowman kits will also be on sale at the same location for $2 per kit.

A few grades have been requested to bring in items that are needed to go into the Hampers, the goal for each grade is 240 packages and the classes will create a fun mountain/tower/structure with their items before they are transported to the Senior School:
  • Grade 4 Toilet Paper Mountain (packages of different sizes for the various families)
  • Grade 5 Ziplock Bag Tower
  • Grade 6 Tin Foil Structure

Santa’s Toy Workshop
Dr. Matthews will once again turn his office into a toy warehouse. The Student Leadership team will go to Dr. Matthews' office to select toys for each family and return them to the Junior School.  Each homeroom will then wrap the toys for the children.

Please bring in any additional non-perishable or cash donations to the school as well throughout the week!
