All students in Grades 2-7 take Drama classes once a week in our “black box theatre” classroom. Through the use of music, scripts, poems, and videos, students explore character, movement, voice, and creative expression. Many different disciplines within the theatre spectrum are explored from theatre history, to mime and clowning, mask work, script writing, stage combat, technical design, and more. Throughout his years at the Junior School, a boy will gain a broad understanding of theatre arts.
All boys in Grades 1-3 participate in the annual Primary Musical, and boys in Grades 4-7 can audition to be a part of the co-curricular Saint’s Junior Players Annual Production. These full-scale productions are performed in the Senior School Theatre. Previous productions include The Jungle Book which featured almost sixty young actors, Willy Wonka, Honk Jr and The Amazing Adventures of Superstan.
