Boy-Centred Learning

Not everyone’s definition of a ‘fine young man’ will be the same. But it’s likely that we all imagine the same character traits; integrity, humility, empathy, and respect; a global citizen with an understanding of service and leadership. At St. George’s, we can build those qualities and that person—one boy at a time. Our job is to inspire every boy to grow his own unique ‘seeds of destiny,’ so that he can become the very best person he is capable of becoming.
At the core of St. George’s is an understanding of boys and boys’ learning. In recent years, ground-breaking research has confirmed that boys learn differently. Because we are a boys’ school, we are able to tailor our programs and approaches to meet the developmental and learning needs of our students. In doing so, we ensure that every boy develops his potential through a broad and inclusive program that allows him to explore his interests and to find his passions.

St. George’s is well known for its extraordinary success in academics, the arts, and athletics. Our strength as an educational institution, however, goes far beyond such measurements. We are a school with a heart, and our talented and dedicated teachers share a common commitment to the well-being of their students. The strong connection between our faculty and our students is palpable, both inside and outside the classroom.

Our graduates are entering an increasingly complex and challenging world, one that will require traditional academic skills combined with a new set of 21st century global skills—the ability to think creatively and analytically, to work effectively with others, to communicate readily across different cultures and in different mediums, to take on the responsibility for helping to make the world a better place. Our hope for the future lies in the hearts and minds of our students, the boys and young men of St. George’s School.
Our commitment to building fine young men is both a privilege and a responsibility. If that philosophy resonates with you, we invite you to read on and to find out how we do this—one boy at a time.
