Campus Master Plan

March 2019 Update

In 2011, the School audited all of its facilities to ensure that they will meet our current and future needs and created a Campus Master Plan for both the junior and senior campus. The process at the Senior School involved extensive community consultation and resulted in a rezoning application in January 2014. In response to feedback from neighbours, City staff, the Urban Design Panel, and the School’s architects, the application was then updated and, following further review with City staff and our immediate neighbours, the revised Campus Master Plan rezoning application was submitted in January 2017.
On July 24, 2018, the City of Vancouver Council unanimously approved the Senior School rezoning application.
 
Work has continued on a refined design and in December 2018, IBI Group Architects Inc. applied to the City of Vancouver for permission to develop the following on the St. George's Senior School campus:
 
  • Two academic buildings (four storeys)
  • The Saints Hall (a dining and gathering hall that is one storey and includes a mezzanine)
  • One level of underground parking under the academic buildings with access from Camosun Street

  • 2012

    February 28, 2012: Introduction of process to Dunbar Residents Association.

    March 28, 2012:
     Initial meeting to discuss process and garner feedback from Good Neighbour Pledge Committee and immediate neighbours.

    March 28, 2012:
     Introduce master planning process and garner land use feedback from broader Dunbar Community.

    June 19, 2012:
     Open House for Dunbar community. Introduced first draft drawings of master plan.

    June 27, 2012:
     Meeting with Good Neighbour Committee to discuss drafts of plan.

    November 28, 2012:
     Open House for Dunbar community. Approximately 800 invites sent out. Presented Campus Master plan adopted by St. George's Board.

    November 29, 2012:
     Open house for School Community (parents, alumni, etc.)
  • 2013

    January 15, 2013: Meeting with Dunbar Residents Association to present Campus Master Plan overview and process.

    June 2013: Article on Campus Master Plan in Dunbar Residents Association newsletter.

    October 28, 2013:
     Open House for Dunbar community. Approximately 800 invites distributed. City of Vancouver staff present to listen to feedback.
  • 2014

    February 18, 2014: Meeting with Dunbar Residents Association to provide rezoning update.

    September 22, 2014: City-led Open House concerning St. George's School's Senior School Rezoning.

    November 3, 2014: Neighbourhood Transportation Committee established in partnership with City of Vancouver Engineering.

    December 10, 2014: City of Vancouver Urban Design panel review.

    October 19–22, 2016: Update on Rezoning Application to immediate neighbours.
  • 2017

    April 28, 2017: City-led Open House concerning St. George's School's Senior School Rezoning.

    July 18, 2018: Public Hearing at City hall concerning St. George's School's Senior School Rezoning Application.
  • 2019

    March 4, 2019: Open House for Dunbar community. Current Master Plan and community impact for new senior campus debuted to public.
